mclcreate were delighted to be asked to deliver this year’s annual North West Skeptical Society QED event.
QED is a two-day science and skepticism convention which this year was held at the Palace Hotel, Manchester. The convention catered for more than 600 guests over the 2 day conference alongside numerous fringe events as well as an Awards Dinner. Guest speakers from the world of science and entertainment provided various impassionate keynote speeches covering topics from Assault with Batteries, Psychobabble and Magic and Skepticism.
Utilising the large in-house stage to design the set for the event, we proposed two large screens in 14:3 ratio to be placed side by side on the main venue stage to which we then provided a lower stage from which all the presenters could present from.
To enhance the Gala Dinner and Awards which in the past had been kept very informal, we provided additional lighting to add atmosphere and effect in the award giving.
Social media was an important element of the success of the event. So much so that we included a live Twitter wall so that all delegates could interact throughout the conference and see in real-time what people were talking about then and there.
Further enhancing the interactivity and scope of the event, live camera relays were used across the event to the main screens along with recording each of the presentation for use post-event by the event organisers.
Andy Wilson, Co-Organiser of QED said “I can say that your team was fantastic. Highly responsive and with the right kit in both rooms. The overall production was dynamic, with lots of little extra touches from lighting to video stings for the awards announcements.”
QED was a major success, and mclcreate look forward to working with the team again, very soon.
