mclcreate enhances spectacular Country to Country music festival

Thursday, 16 March 2017 Clyde Auditorium, Glasgow

Recent Case Studies

Live events specialist, mclcreate, has played a key role in delivering a successful Country to Country (C2C), the annual country music festival which this year featured three of the world’s biggest acts, Reba McEntire, Zack Brown Band and Brad Paisley.

Held over three consecutive nights (10-12 March 2017) in three different cities - London, Dublin and Glasgow - the fifth C2C is a fantastic celebration of the best that country music has to offer. mclcreate brought its considerable technical expertise, attention to detail and exceptional service to the Glasgow leg of the event hosted at the Clyde Auditorium for promoter, DF Concerts.

“We first worked with DF Concerts on the 2016 C2C series of concerts which were headlined by Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Eric Church respectively,” says mclcreate Business Director, Ken Robertson. “In talking with them again on the run up to the 2017 shows, we recognised that this event would be a tough act to follow in many ways. C2C 2017 demanded that we not only respond to the technical challenge but that we also effectively match the creative theme being driven out from the 02 Arena shows in London. We’re delighted to report that, true to form, C2C 2017 did not disappoint.”

Using all its live events know-how and experience, mclcreate provided LED screens, IMAG camera channels and vision mix services for this year’s concerts, with all equipment performance selected to meet the technical specification and supplied quickly and efficiently from its well-resourced Scottish operations in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The LED staging backdrops proved big, bright and flexible enough to handle the rigours of both the IMAG camera from mclcreate’s full HD Panasonic broadcast heads as well as the touring package playback graphics supplied by each of the artists. mclcreate’s crew of technicians facilitated all the visual requirements for a diverse range of acts over the weekend, including the three headliners plus Darius Rucker, Hunter Hayes, Marty Stuart, Maren Morris, Brothers Osbourne, Chris Young, Jennifer Nettles and CAM.

Working to the C2C design template, the team from mclcreate delivered an upstage LED screen package to reflect the look and feel of the event across all three of its locations. mclcreate set up these screens by deploying 10mm LED Glux side screens as well as their 3.9mm DigiLED product for the circular central screen.

The result was a dramatic and powerful setting which brought extra impact to the live experience for the 3,000 capacity crowd packed into Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium.

The successful delivery of this project for the 2017 series of concerts has seen the Glasgow leg of the event grow in scale and size as DF Concerts look to continue the momentum towards bigger and better things for 2018. Next year’s C2C Glasgow will take place in the Hydro Arena over the weekend of the 9th – 11th March 2018. mclcreate has already started the 2018 conversation with DF Concerts and is looking forward to helping the stars of country pack as powerful and emotional a punch as they did this year!
