Edinburgh (multiple locations)

Hogmanay CelebrationsWith three days of spectacular events, incredible bands and amazing crowds from every corner of the globe, Edinburgh's Hogmanay shows the world how to party!

Highlighted as one of the ‘Top 100 things to do before you die’ and recently the only festival to appear in the ‘Discovery Channel – Top 25 World Travel Experiences’, Edinburgh's Hogmanay Street Party is one of the world’s greatest New Year celebrations.

Having worked with Unique Events for the previous 6 years on the Hogmanay celebrations, mclcreate were asked back to deliver and manage the video content aspects between the multiple stage locations across the city centre. This included upstage LED backdrop screens, live relay camera channels, IMAG LED Screens, vision mixing and content playback along with microwave connectivity between the central control hub within the Ross Bandstand main stage arena, where the entire video content for the numerous LED screens positioned in various locations across the city is controlled from for the all-important “Midnight Moment”.

With 7 stages including the main Concert in the Gardens along with the Old Town Ceilidh stage, we were catering to an audience of 75,000 across the various locations on the night. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay is now a key part of Scotland’s Winter Festivals celebrations and delivers an estimated economic benefit of over £40 million to the city (figures based on 2014/15 event).

As in previous years mclcreate led the delivery of the video content aspects by bringing in fellow Avesco Group plc companies, Creative Technology and Presteigne Broadcast to help accomplish the technical delivery on the night. It’s been a successful partnership that has proven year on year that by utilising the wider Avesco Group companies, mclcreate are in a position to provide dependable, consistent and cost effective solutions in time critical environments when called upon to do so.

With broadcasters such as BBC News 24, Sky News, ITN, STV and BBC Scotland’s own Hogmanay Show broadcasting live from the Street Party, pictures were beamed to a potential audience of over a billion people in 150 countries around the world. So when the eyes of the world are watching it’s good to know that you’ve got the right team in place to make sure it all happens when it’s meant to, which is exactly what the mclcreate team did again this year.

The successful delivery of the visual elements for this year’s Edinburgh Hogmanay celebrations has seen mclcreate strengthen its position in the live events support services sector once again by delivering the project on time, on budget and as a supportive partner to the Unique Events production management team which is led by Rab Randall and supported by Nigel Kippax.
