T in the Park 2015

Strathallan Castle, Perthshire

Inspired by the legendary Glasgow venue, The King Tut's Wah Wah Tent is infamous with T in the Park and is a favourite of performers and music fans alike. It gives a great representation of the bands and artists who come through the doors of the Glasgow-based venue almost every day of the year.

King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, also known as King Tut's, is a live music venue and bar on St. Vincent Street in Glasgow. It is owned and managed by gig promoters DF Concerts, who also run T in The Park Festival itself. The venue takes its name from a club in New York that hosted music, comedy and performing arts events in the 1980’s.

mclcreate partnered with Creative Technology to deliver the 10m x 5.5m upstage GLUX 10mm pixel pitch LED screen in the King Tut’s tent. This was part of a joint solution that saw mclcreate and Creative Technology working together across four stages. These included the King Tut’s Tent, The Slam Tent and the main stage itself.

With an at-capacity crowd of 10,000 people in the King Tut’s tent, the remit for the LED backdrop was that it needed to be big, bright and lightweight. As the GLUX 10mm LED product is one of the lightest in the marketplace it meant that a screen of this size could be flown easily within the rigging parameters in terms of weight loading available.

The team of technicians on site from mclcreate over the weekend had to facilitate the visual requirements for a diverse range of musical acts and performers which included Mark Ronson, Fatboy Slim, Hot Chip, Jessie Ware, Courteeners, The Proclaimers, Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott and Above & Beyond.

The successful delivery of this project has seen DF Concerts continue to work with mclcreate on other live events into the second half of 2015 and into early 2016 respectively.
