Old Trafford, Manchester 2013
Manchester United Foundation chose mclcreate in a 3 way pitch to produce the Red Heart United legends match between Real Madrid and Manchester United. The annual charity match between two of the world's biggest football brands brought 60,000 fans to The Theatre of Dreams to see the likes of Edwin Van de Sar, Paul Scholes and Zinedine Zidane raised over £800,000 for the Manchester United Foundation to support its work with young people in deprived areas around Manchester.
Managing every aspect, mclcreate provided a complete end-to-end supporter experience which included greeting the supporters on arrival, pre-match opening ceremony activities and post match celebrations.
Our overarching concept for the event was 'Fete vs Fiesta!', bringing the best of Britain to meet the best of Spain.
Creating two 'fan zone' areas outside the stadium enabled us to engage the supporters pre-match with the spirit of the event. The zones included Spanish and British food outlets, a fun-fair and general family entertainment including stilt walkers and a touring Flamenco band.
Once inside the stadium, we worked closely with the stadium staff and facilities team to ensure every one of the 60,000 attendees had an amazing experience. All live event production was managed by mclcreate, and included a flash mob of over 200 dancers on the Old Trafford pitch which kicked off an unforgettable opening ceremony with live acts including Amelia Lilly, Tinchy Stryder and culminated in a performance by JLS.
mclcreate created the entire show running order which dovetailed seamlessly into the MUTV live broadcast which helped create a holistic experience for all the fans whether they attended or watched on MUTV.
The 2:1 win for Real Madrid culminated in a trophy presentation by David Gill with a crescendo of confetti cannons and music.
